Hard core performance in a sneaker package

Took these out for their first trip in Grand Canyon. We did four days hiking knife-sharp limestone and slick, wet sandstone, three of those days carrying heavy backpacks. There was extended wading in cold river water and scrambling up steep, unstable talus slopes. There were a few pitches of low class 5 climbing in the Coconino sandstone of Marble Canyon.

And these Moabs took everything I gave them with grace and power. The lugs held on tight to the rocks even when wet without visible wear and the shoes dried very fast once we were out of the water. They felt more stable under a heavy pack than any shoe without ankle support and a hard shank has any right to feel on long ascents through steep loose rocks.

They're sneaker style shoes can can't replace a real boot, but outperformed any similar light shoe I've ever tried in hard canyoneering and backpacking conditions.

They ran true to size and laced down snug over light wool socks.
