I've been wanting to try a pair of these for a while. I've done well with Merells in the past. I was hoping they'd be good for warm weather hikes. I'm a severe overpronater. I wear custom orthotics. My feet tend to swell in hot weather and they swell in the course of a long hike. The ventilators failed me as regards all those issues. Although they have lots of little holes and no water proof liner, they're so padded that they might as well be insulated. The padding is at least a quarter inch thick. They fit true to size in length and width but they're very narrow from arch to metatarsal. They're really tight when you remove the insole and use any sort of custom insole. Also the heels fit sloppily so, given my over pronation problem, I really had to crank the laces tight to keep from twisting my ankles. They were very uncomfortable. I went for a few two mile walks on even terrain and decided they were only fit for casual wear with the factory insoles and very light socks.
