I was looking for winter boots to use in Washington, D.C, while I am taking part in The Women's March for Peace and Justice on January 21. It is nearly certain to be very cold that day and even likely to be snowy. I live in sunny SoCal, so I really don't have any appropriate footwear. I thought t... Read More

  • “Can these boots be used in the snow?”
Asked by Michelle B. from Miami on 2/9/2017 9:48:00 AM
    • I was skeptical when I got mine but have been VERY warm, and so far, no snow has gotten in between the laces, nor has wetness soaked through anywhere, ever. I have not been out in the snow for more than an hour at a time. I think for longer in deep snow (8 inches or more) there still might be a chance of getting wet.

    • I have wore these in the snow and they seemed fine.

    • These boots are not waterproof and may get wet if used in the snow.

    • They are not waterproof. The material on the top is a yarn/wool like. I do wear them out and about in bad weather they are warm and comfortable. I would not wear them to play or be active in a lot of snow.

  • “Are these boots wearable in snow?”
Asked by Ivy from California on 12/16/2016 9:34:39 PM
    • They could be worn in packed snow, but not loose or soft snow. They are not waterproof and the upper material has texture which the snow would stick to and they have suede trim - so not a recreational snow boot.

    • Living in Southern California, I don't have a lot of experience with snow, but we do go to the 12,000 ft. high mountains which are snow covered almost every winter..... I would say that these boots are not good for wearing in snow. They would be fine for walking across a snowy parking lot to a shop or restaurant, but not good for a hike or making your way to a cabin. While they do have a lining, I'm pretty sure they are not water proof and being in snow for any length of time would leave you with soggy boots and wet, cold feet.

About Merrell

The story of Merrell boots all started with a guy named Randy Merrell, who began handcrafting leather hiking boots back in 1981, shortly after graduating from industrial shoemaking school. By the mid-80s, Randy’s boots had already gained critical acclaim before being named “best boots in the world” by Backpacker Magazine. The next decade saw the arrival of new footwear, including the ever-popular Jungle Moc, which helped launch the after-sport category. Today, Merrell hiking boots, running shoes and sneakers are still among the best on the market, always combining the newest technology, innovative designs and outstanding comfort. Whether you hike, run, walk or just appreciate high-quality shoes and boots, we’re confident that you’ll love Merrell shoes.
