Most cycling shoes are stiff, tight and designed to work with pedal clips, which are not the safest for clumsy older riders. These are very lightweight and flexible, despite a bit of rigidity for more pedaling efficiency. They are soft, comfortable and somewhat stretchy. They work very well with toe cages, which I have been using for 45 years. Unlike many sneakers the sole does not flare out from the side of the shoe, meaning for toe cages you get a nice snug feel.
