I've been a size 14 for many years, and these were swimming on me, so I sent them back (and didn't take a chance on a smaller size). I would also call them mid-rise, and I'm more comfortable with a natural waist fit.

I got the charcoal ones (different sku) in size 14 since that was all that was available and this sku in size 12. Surprisingly, both fit almost exactly the same, with just a touch too much room in the waist of the 14s, but not enough to be a problem. Very comfortable and fit great inside boots
