Verified Buyer Reviewed by Justin from Texas at the moment on Monday, August 22, 2016I don't trail run many miles due to bad knees; I can only do a few miles a week without risking injury. But, when I do run my short little runs, these shoes offer excellent protection from the nasty, pointy rocks on my local trail without causing me to feel out of touch with the ground.
I mostly use these for hiking/backpacking. I grew so tired of heavy boots weighing my feet down and removing all feel of the ground. When hiking on an established trail, I see no reason to wear boots. I only use boots when working in the field (geologist) off trail, on loose slopes, with lots of cacti around or in the very cold snow.
The Wave Kazan is very comfortable for my foot. The size was consistent with the nikes I wear when not on the trail. I have found the traction good on muddy trails and when scrambling on talus slopes above timberline. I would certainly recommend these from my experience so far, based on how I use them. However, if you're a serious trail runner, I can't say either way.

Verified Buyer Reviewed by Huja from SFO on Monday, August 15, 2016Wide toe box and med-large midfoot volume. Works for me, but take that into consideration if you decide to buy. I have a fast seven mile run in these on a wood chip trail and the grip was good. Firm, fast ride.
