Most Helpful 5-Star Review
Reviewed by Keith from Little Rock, AR on Monday, December 31, 2012I have used these in many different shoes the last few years to add much needed arch support. They seem to work best for me in shoes that have some degree of cushioning. When tried in firm soled shoes I feel the hard plastic base. I have plantar fasciitis and these minimize the problem. The only minor downside is that over time the plastic in the heel (the cutout where the heel cushion comes through) sinks into the cushioned midsole of some shoes. (running shoes) Still, these are the best aftermarket insoles I've tried. I am a size 13 and find they run 100% true to size even after heating. (follow instructions) It sounds to me like if your oven gets hotter than 200 deg. they may shrink more. Hope they don't discontinue this product. Sierra Trading Post has the best price I've found. Hope STP gets more of these in soon, as currently they only have 3 sizes.
Reviewed by gretaluvsdaisy from California on Sunday, October 21, 2012I agree with the review that advises to buy a size larger than you usually wear. I ended up giving these to the Goodwill because after heating they were a good inch too short for my boots. The fit and support were quite good other than the fact that my toes were hanging over the edge of the insole. They were inexpensive so I ordered up a size and they are fine. Don't worry that they don't quite fit in your shoes before heating: they will shrink.
Verified Buyer Reviewed by Marcos from Hawaii on Tuesday, September 4, 2012I would buy them a size too large for use with Montrail shoes, as Montrail had changed their sizing recenlty.
These "pack out/down" extreemly well without needing to be heated in the oven.
Verified Buyer Reviewed by V the hiker from Western MA on Monday, September 3, 2012We ended up throwing them away as they shrunk when heated, and were so hot we couldn't put them in the shoe to step on them.
- Cons: Shrunk When Heated
Verified Buyer Reviewed by Foghorn Leghorn from UWS NYC on Monday, July 30, 2012OK, there are better moldable arch-support shoe liners. But just starting to try these, so who knows? Work on concrete floor mills, live in Manhattan. So far these are working in metatarsal-guard Redwings and New Balance 'barefoot' trail-running shoes. Ask me in three months?
- Best Uses: Newer lower sports shoes, Replacing foam inserts, Walking on concrete, Working on concrete
- Cons: Arch support so-so, Iffy pronation control, Work in progress
- Pros: Easily molded to foot, Reduces heel strike, Thin but effective
