Received the Jacket about 2 weeks ago and have worn it everyday. The jacket is the perfect length to keep me warm and dry during regular New York winter days and occasional outdoor winter activities. I am approximately 5 foot 10 and typically wear a medium but ordered the large to ensure the sleeves... Read More

I am 5'2 and 125- the small coat fits perfect! I bought for an upcoming trip to Colorado so I have not put it to the test yet, but there is plenty of room inside for a sweater as well.

The coat is comfy and very warm! I definitely will wear it everyday!

I live in Minnesota where the weather changes hourly! This coat is phenomenal for warmth and waterproofability (is that a word?). I have tested it in blizzards and on -25 degree days. The fabric is wonderfully pliable, the hood is down filled and the sizing is perfect. I am 5'8"/155lbs. and the large gives me plenty of room to move around and wear a fleece or heavy sweater underneath. The only reason why I didn't give it a 5 star rating is that it is not as chic/cool as most of MH's other clothes. I have many MH coats and fleece jackets and always receive style compliments. The cut on this could be better, but frankly if you are faced with wet and cold weather, all you really care about is being dry and warm and this coat absolutely provides the protection.

I purchased this jacket to help get through this winter that won't quit. I was pleasantly surprised that it is so warm and comfortable without being bulky. It has become a favorite. I am a size 6 and the Small fits well. Very fine quality at a great price.

This is an all(cold) weather coat. It is comfy, fits perfectly 9not too tight), is waterproof, covers my bum, keeps out the wind, and the hood is super cute, comfy, and weather-protective. I wasn't sure about the color (taupe) because I usually wear bright colors, but I really like it for my twice-daily walks in our high-altitude clime, where it can be near freezing at dawn even in summer. LOVE.

  • “How does the size run with this coat? I reviewed the size chart but am uncertain which size to order. Any thoughts?”
Asked by Deb from VA on 2/22/2014 7:07:14 AM
    • Runs a bit small and tight on the hips! I'm 127 lbs and 5ft 5 in and bought a Medium which is a perfect fit. Tried the small and had to exchange for the medium.

    • Hi, I would say the size runs pretty accurate. I ordered a small and I'm 5' 2", 130 lbs and it fits very comfortably. The length goes to the a few inches above my knees. I really like the coat! The only problem is it has a cheap zipper so you have to be careful that the 2 pieces are fitted in correctly before zipping up. Hope this helps.

    • My wife is a size 10 and wears the L in the Mountain Hardwear. She's 5'8", 140, fairly wide shouders, big chest. Hope that helps.

    • I think this runs a little small. I ordered a size larger to wear a bulky sweater under it and that works fine. I just do not need the sweater since the coat is very warm. It keeps you dry in rain and freezing rain.

    • I am 5'6 and 138 lbs and I bought a large because it was the only size left in black! It is a bit large but its ok with a layer underneath. I should have gone with a medium. I wear an 8 pants sometimes size 10. Mountain hardwear sometimes runs small ..but I believe this is true to size. Very warm and stylish.

    • I bought a medium. I am 5' 3" and 127 lbs. I like a little extra room to wear sweaters under my coat. I could have easily worn a small. I hope this helps.

    • I have purchased a down coat from Eddie Bauer a bunch of years ago. It was the warmest coat I had ever had but it was very heavy and bulky. This Mountain Hardware coat is just as warm with out all of the bulk. I have been wearing it during the below zero days we have been having in Chicago and it has kept me very warm. Highly recommend it!!

About Mountain Hardwear

Starting back in 1993, a small group of outdoor industry mavericks broke away from the pack to follow a less-traveled path. From the very beginning, the primary goal of Mountain Hardwear was to create an outdoor gear brand with a sharp focus on technology-driven design, superior performance and hardcore reliability. The result of this function-first mentality has been an array of incredible Mountain Hardwear jackets, clothing, tents, backpacks, sleeping bags and accessories. Today, after more than two decades of industry-leading innovation, Mountain Hardwear continues to set new benchmarks for dependability in the toughest conditions on the planet.
