I got these pants two years ago and have used them frequently in all four seasons since. They have kept me dry and comfortable although perhaps not in the hight of fashion. (But who cares after a few days on the trail, especially in the rain?) I have a long waist so the high rise is not a problem for me. They are loose-fitting, but that's ok too-- easier to layer and ventilate. The zips are almost full length but not quite. I am surprised to see the listing here in snow pants because they are quite light and were previously categorized as a rain pant-- which they are. They pack small and don't feel clingy or sticky against bare skin.

The pants are roomy but good for layering when it is cold! I just spent 5 days in the back country of Alaska with them as my only source of protection from the weather. It was windy, cold, and foggy with some rain. I felt they were adequate protection and fairly durable. I even had to scramble in the rocks a bit with them and no holes!! I came back dry!

Can't attest to the waterproofness of these pants, because they were so big and wierdly sized (waist WAY too high) that i wasn't able to wear them usefully other than to try them on)
    • Cons: Bulky, Poor Fit
    • Inseam: Feels too long

I never really used these pants because they were way to big out of the package. I returned them immediately. I feared that if the wind blew, the pants legs would balloon up and I would sail away, probably upside down. However....if the pants had fit, I'm sure they would have been terrific because Mountain Hardware makes great stuff!

I had to return these, as they were WAY too big. It's a shame too, because they were so nice and I really liked them. I'm 5'7" at 115lbs and I ordered the small. These would have been enormous even if I had been wearing two layers of clothing under them.....so....they looked a little ridiculous.

About Mountain Hardwear

Starting back in 1993, a small group of outdoor industry mavericks broke away from the pack to follow a less-traveled path. From the very beginning, the primary goal of Mountain Hardwear was to create an outdoor gear brand with a sharp focus on technology-driven design, superior performance and hardcore reliability. The result of this function-first mentality has been an array of incredible Mountain Hardwear jackets, clothing, tents, backpacks, sleeping bags and accessories. Today, after more than two decades of industry-leading innovation, Mountain Hardwear continues to set new benchmarks for dependability in the toughest conditions on the planet.
