Being tall and slender with long limbs, I have trouble finding clothing that doesn't expose my wrists or ankles in an unseemly way. So far the Mountain Hardware products, like Arc'teryx, work very well for me.

I had three (possibly unusual) desires in mind when buying these pants. They had to be:

    1. Far enough from jeans that I could wear them in a business-casual setting (emphasis on casual here).

    2. Far enough from dress pants that I could also wear them on a college campus without looking like a dork.

    3. Somewhat rugged, i.e. won't instantly rip upon contact with a bike chain.

These pants have served me decently in each of these areas, although not perfectly in any one area. But that's kind of a tall order, so I am happy with what these pants have managed to deliver.

These fit me great and the 31 waist pant I got fit is true to size. Pockets are deep and these will be my favorite pants for cooler weather hiking. Also nice enough to go out to dinner in. These pants are made from a heavy enough cotton so that they don't wrinkle real easily.

Good initial quality. Size down 1 or 2 inches at the waist. Some colors have a bright orange-red zipper that will draw attention to your crotch from time to time.

Nothing extra special about these pants. The gusset is a nice feature. Overall, they are comfortable. The waist seems to be on the larger side though. I am fairly skinny and usually buy a 30, but I had to get a 28 in these and they are still pretty roomy. I like them enough that I will probably buy another pair.

About Mountain Hardwear

Starting back in 1993, a small group of outdoor industry mavericks broke away from the pack to follow a less-traveled path. From the very beginning, the primary goal of Mountain Hardwear was to create an outdoor gear brand with a sharp focus on technology-driven design, superior performance and hardcore reliability. The result of this function-first mentality has been an array of incredible Mountain Hardwear jackets, clothing, tents, backpacks, sleeping bags and accessories. Today, after more than two decades of industry-leading innovation, Mountain Hardwear continues to set new benchmarks for dependability in the toughest conditions on the planet.
