I love this thing. I have a hard time finding jackets that I can run in without becoming overheated. Just enough wind blocking to keep me warm without overheating. Mountain Hardware is top notch!

I purchased this to be lightweight wind shirt for backpacking and as a very light jacket for cool weather runs and bike rides. I heat up quickly when exercising, so I wanted something that could keep me warm long enough to heat up then I could shed once warmed up. It had to be lightweight and packable to meet this criteria, and it's well suited to do this.

Where it lack is in it's fit (granted I bought 1 size up so I could layer over a light mid-layer during backpacking) and it's utter lack of protection from wet conditions. I live in south Louisiana, so in the winters here, we are typically wet either with light rain/drizzle or heavy fog. This thing wets out too quickly. It really should have a DWR finish on it. For about the same price new, you can get a competitor's comparable jacket with a DWR coating, similar fit, construction, etc.

Having said that, for what I paid (STP's very low price), I'm OK with it.

Haven't challenged this to the elements yet, but I love this gear and Sierra's prices.

About Mountain Hardwear

Starting back in 1993, a small group of outdoor industry mavericks broke away from the pack to follow a less-traveled path. From the very beginning, the primary goal of Mountain Hardwear was to create an outdoor gear brand with a sharp focus on technology-driven design, superior performance and hardcore reliability. The result of this function-first mentality has been an array of incredible Mountain Hardwear jackets, clothing, tents, backpacks, sleeping bags and accessories. Today, after more than two decades of industry-leading innovation, Mountain Hardwear continues to set new benchmarks for dependability in the toughest conditions on the planet.
