Perfect for my morning walks
Reviewed by Dezzer from Midwest on Wednesday, November 11, 2015
I'm 5'11, 150, and got this in an XL to fit over anything/everything. The arms are quite long, which I LOVE since women's jackets often are too short in the arms for me. It's extremely lightweight and packable, of course, as advertised. I find that I grab it every morning for my walk because I"m com... Read More

  • Exactly what I've been searching for!

This jacket is exactly what I've been looking for, for years now. It's lightweight, packable, waterproof, comfortable...and priced right. In fact, I've spent more on cheap disposable ponchos at entertainment venues and events than I paid for this jacket. This will be fabulous for warm-weather hiking, cycling and any other situation where there's a possibility of getting caught in the rain unexpectedly. I haven't tested its helmet compatibility yet, but the fabric is so thin and supple it could also easily be worn under a helmet without impacting the fit. It packs down so small, it takes up less space than a compact umbrella and IMHO it's a lot more useful, especially for those with an active lifestyle. I bought one for myself and one for my daughter...the men in our household are going to be jealous there's no men's option currently available!
  • Great for sudden showers

This jacket is amazingly light. It's very strong and seems like it won't tear. It would be nice if it were breathable but will be great for emergencies hiking or biking.

The jacket is well made and as seen in the photo. It is featherweight and packs into a palm size pocket/pouch.
  • Nice!

This shirt is minimal, ridiculously light and does a great job of blocking wind and resisting light showers, tested on my windy and occasionally rainy bike commute. I like the long drop hem and fitted hood. It is not breathable, but that's kind of exactly what I want out of a wind shirt. The waist cinch is the only weird part. Usually cinches for shirts/jackets are at the hem, but this one is above the waist, so it doesn't prevent the garment from riding up, which is a thing that happens while you bike. I suspect they made this decision because it reduces the flapping that happens when you're facing high winds, and when it comes to the flapping vs riding up trade-off it's a difficult choice but I think they did it right. Got it on sale with a coupon so it was a great deal!

About Mountain Hardwear

Starting back in 1993, a small group of outdoor industry mavericks broke away from the pack to follow a less-traveled path. From the very beginning, the primary goal of Mountain Hardwear was to create an outdoor gear brand with a sharp focus on technology-driven design, superior performance and hardcore reliability. The result of this function-first mentality has been an array of incredible Mountain Hardwear jackets, clothing, tents, backpacks, sleeping bags and accessories. Today, after more than two decades of industry-leading innovation, Mountain Hardwear continues to set new benchmarks for dependability in the toughest conditions on the planet.
