Crazy light, good build quality, really strange sizing

As the title says, this jacket is insanely light - the large weighs 7.3oz on my scale. It's wildly compressible, and incredibly warm. No down has escaped (yet) and the build quality seems to be solid.

Now for the sizing:

Let me preface this by saying, I am not a typical sized human. I have a 46" chest, a 36" waist, and large shoulders/arms. I'm used to not quite fitting in garments and spending a lot of time trying on different brands and sizes. Usually, the chest and shoulders are either too tight or the stomach/waist area is too loose. With this jacket, MH picked some strange sizing bands for their large and extra large sizes.

The extra large is listed as a 47-49" chest so I started with that one assuming I would layer underneath. When it arrived, it was like wearing a tarp. I could overlap the zipper with an extra foot of material. The arms were so long that the sleeves extended beyond my fingertips (I wear 35/36" sleeves for reference). So I said to myself, "clearly I must be a large" and returned the XL to order the smaller size.

When the large arrived, I was surprised to see that not only was the extra foot of width gone, but now it was very snug on my chest, loose in the arms, and long in the sleeves. That's a massive drop from one size to another. I'm not sure what sort of Shrek body-type they're cutting for at MH, but I've never seen someone shaped in such a way.

I'll keep the jacket and use it as motivation to lose some weight in my ribcage...
