This arrived today! XL in the Mountain/Ghinko color: sort of a faded blue and mustard yellow zipper and interior. Really nice color!. For the record, I am 6'4 and 205lbs. This is plenty roomy with a couple of
layers underneath. And the body length and sleeves are very long. Over a T, it would be too big! I expected light, but this will float away if you don't hold it down!
I'm kidding, of course. But compared to my Eddie Bauer MicroTherm down sweater, it's a feather. And at 12 oz or so, I thought THAT was light! They say this is around 8 oz, which doesn't mean much until you actually hold it! I've passed it to half a dozen people just today who are literally stunned at its weight! (or lack thereof!)
Today was about 10-15 F degrees. I walked briskly for 20 minutes with a thin fleece zip, and a flannel shirt under the vest. Hood up over a stocking cap. Plenty warm! For colder weather, or on an all day hike, I would layer a shell over. But remember- this is not, nor intended to be, a big, burly down parka!
The exterior fabric is ripstop but so feather-weight thin, you have to feel it to believe it! I would NEVER bushwhack with this exposed. I fear it would tear too easily, although they say it's pretty durable.
This product is a design/execution tour-de-force! Bravo Mountain Hardwear and STP for the great price! I got it for $150 and free shipping here at Sierra Trading Post.
