Warm enough for the CA Sierras. The fit is perfect. Not to puffy, yet feels like it is a real jacket, not a liner. The thicker 50D/30D construciton means it will hold up in various conditions. I dont feel I'll ever have to be worried about tearing or harming it (unlike the other 20D jackets out ther... Read More

First off, is it warm? Yes, very. Like a few other reviewers, I gave it the long sleeve T-shirt test at 27 degrees F. I felt perfectly toasty standing outside for 30 minutes. No problem. Then the temperature dipped to 14. Wore a poly v-neck underneath. Again, perfectly warm for 30 minutes. Now to the fit, this jacket is not an athletic cut. If you're slim hipped and slim waisted, you might think it too roomy. I'm between an XL and XXL. I ordered an XXL and was very pleased. Shoulders fit great, lots of room for work and play under the arms. The waist needed to be cinched a bit for a tailored fit. No problem. It looks great. With three exterior pockets, two interior pockets, there's room for your stuff. The only con, and it's no biggie, is that the cuffs have no insulation. You'll realize that when the temperature dips, but assuming you'll be wearing gloves, you'll be fine. The pockets are warm. All in all, at Sierra's pricing, it's a great jacket.

  • “Will this zip into a mountain hardwear shell?”
Asked by Jeff from Unknown on 11/6/2012 12:00:00 AM
    • It will depend on which shell, I know it will zip in the Eturnia Trifecta 3 in 1 , so I suspect it zip into other Trifecta 3 in 1 styles. The shells that were not designed as 3 in 1 lacked the second zipper needed to zip it in.

About Mountain Hardwear

Starting back in 1993, a small group of outdoor industry mavericks broke away from the pack to follow a less-traveled path. From the very beginning, the primary goal of Mountain Hardwear was to create an outdoor gear brand with a sharp focus on technology-driven design, superior performance and hardcore reliability. The result of this function-first mentality has been an array of incredible Mountain Hardwear jackets, clothing, tents, backpacks, sleeping bags and accessories. Today, after more than two decades of industry-leading innovation, Mountain Hardwear continues to set new benchmarks for dependability in the toughest conditions on the planet.
