Need a light, packable jacket for cold weather inactivity? This is a great choice, but choose your sizing carefully. Mountain Hardwear typically runs a but smaller than other brands and this jacket lies at the small end of the MH line. At 5'9" and 138#, I have a Small MH Phantom jacket that fits ... Read More

This well made mid weight down jacket is still being sold on many other web sites for $190 to $270. I have not yet worn this jacket in seriously cold weather in the Sierras. I purchased it as a compressible mid layer that I could easily store in a day pack or a back pack in the event that I needed an additional insulating layer under a hard shell jacket. My jacket even came with its own stuff sack. Usual MH fit and finish. I ordered XXL (6ft 3in, 230 lbs) and the jacket has enough room in the shoulders girth and sleeves for me. I don't like tight fitting jackets. If you feel the same way, order one size up. You will not find a better mid weight down jacket for $120. It even comes with the MH lifetime "no questions asked guarantee".

Great jacket. Wish pockets were lined, but they are warm. I wish the zipper guard was a little bigger. In 40 mile gusts of wind I could feel it coming through zipper. Size seems right. Love the warmth.

Calls for a good goose down parka with an attached hood. And if there's rain or snow flurries a Mountain Hardwear hooded Ghost Whisperer jacket over that keeps you and parka dry.Yes,it's an XL size and the color is voltage, which is as close to lime green as I could get.Zippered side pockets make good hand warmers, and it comes with it's own stuff sack.

Light, warm and very cool. Sizing is a little snug at the XL. XXL was too big. Looks great. The material is pretty thin, which keeps the jacket light, so don't expect something like the old North Face Nuptse in terms of abrasion resistance.

It fits slightly smaller than what I would say is a normal XL. I am 185 ponds and 6'3" and it fits nice. I have long arms and so does this jacket. So, the fit is great for me. It is warm and light. You could wear this down to the mid 20s and then put a shell over it and wear it even colder. This hood is nice too and it is a good looking jacket. I thought it was a steal at such a low price. I found similar jackets in retail stores for way more.

About Mountain Hardwear

Starting back in 1993, a small group of outdoor industry mavericks broke away from the pack to follow a less-traveled path. From the very beginning, the primary goal of Mountain Hardwear was to create an outdoor gear brand with a sharp focus on technology-driven design, superior performance and hardcore reliability. The result of this function-first mentality has been an array of incredible Mountain Hardwear jackets, clothing, tents, backpacks, sleeping bags and accessories. Today, after more than two decades of industry-leading innovation, Mountain Hardwear continues to set new benchmarks for dependability in the toughest conditions on the planet.
