Most Helpful 2-Star Review
Reviewed by KJR_simplelife from St Louis on Friday, November 22, 2013The description for this tent listed it as 90" long and 71" wide, which got us excited because we were looking for a tent for the two of us and our 80-lb dog to share. I am 6'3" and my significant other is 5'11", so we both have long sleeping bags which means we needed a tent with a length a little longer than normal. Unfortunately, once the tent arrived, we quickly realized that those dimensions were very misleading because those measurements are along the very edges - if you notice in the picture, the two front corners pull out further than the rest of the tent - those measure 90", but the actual usable space of the tent body (where you lay down) is only 86".
Mountain Hardware should not advertise this tent as being 90" long. They should provide a bird's-eye-view picture where they draw a straight line at the base of the arch arch and clarify that the usable space is only 86" and the 90" is measuring to the tiny point pulled out by the stake that won't fit anything (especially a tall person's head when laying down!). I truly believe they shouldn't advertise this tent as 90" long because the space that is between 86 - 90" long in unusable. Of course, this is only valuable information if you're like us and need every spare inch of space when it comes to length - if you're not that tall, then this tent is probably great for you!
In the end, this tent just wasn't big enough for us and our needs, so we returned it. We ended up with the REI Quarter Dome T-3 Plus tent which has plenty of room for all of us and is more of a square shape so the roominess is consistent all over.
