This coat is everything it says. It's so light you can barely feel it on...until you take it off and feel how warm and cozy you were. It's totally packable so it's great to have if you're not sure what the weather is going to do.

Love, love, love. I wear it all the time. Bought the large. 5'9" 155 lbs. perfect for a cold spring and into winter. Excellent on its own, as a mid layer, or even in a chilly house to fend off the winter chills. Would highly recommend. I am kicking myself for not buying this kind of coat years ago.

Cute jacket, nice color. The hood fits perfectly and stays in place even though it's not adjustable. My only concern is that the fabric seems a little delicate, as if it could rip easily or get snagged on a zipper. Only time will tell.

I've used this jacket cross country skiing and it was perfect for when the weather got chilly. Great weight, nice fit and I like the hood.

Loved the jacket. Wanted another color as I have another. But I returned it. The color wasn't what I thought it would be.

I researched quite a few down jackets and decided on this one because of a stellar sale price. The color is vibrant and beautiful and the jacket is lightweight. It is perhaps a little more lightweight than I was expecting/hoping for. I live in a mountainous region of China and needed a coat that will keep me warm and will last. This one might not do the trick during the coldest winter months, but I think it will be a great, very packable option the majority of the time.

  • “Is there a temperature rating on this coat? How cold is "cold weather"?”
Asked by Soto from Cheyenne, Wyoming on 10/24/2011 12:00:00 AM
    • The Mountain Hardwear Nitrous jacket does not have a specified temperature rating, but since it is 800-fill goosedown, it is as warm as a bulky jacket yet extremely lightweight.

    • Most manufacturers do not have temperature ratings for their garments due to the number of factors that affect how warm a garment may keep you. • “I live in Wisconsin, will this jacket be warm enough to protect me from -30 temperatures?|For 800-fill, it doesn't look very insulated. Is it more like a "sweater" than a jacket?”
Asked by Niki from Wisconsin on 9/18/2011 12:00:00 AM
    • The jacket is 90% filled with goose down, and the last 10% is filled with feathers, so even though it may look like it's not too bulky, the warmth should not be an issue. One reviewer even said that it would be too warm to be skiing in, so daily wear, even at -30 degrees, will be perfect.
Answered on 9/20/2011 12:00:00 AM by Anonymous from None
    • It's a great coat, and warm...but I wouldn't say it's what I'd wear in -30 weather. I would do some research as some manufacturers will say the product is good to xx temp.|Also, you can't get this wet, it's not waterproof - it's meant to be paired with a shell (jacket worn underneath) if you're going to be in the rain.
