The sizing is way off. I normally wear an XL Mountain Hardwear jacket. It was way way too big. I wear a 45 chest and 36 sleeve. The XL in this jacket was way to big. The Large is a little big on me, but will be fine with layering. The jacket is well constructed, and has a burly feel, although it does not provide much insulation. Put a nice down sweater underneath and you're set for a day dropping into Vasquez Cirque or hitting the Ridge at Loveland. It is roomy enough for a down sweater - no problem. I would not use for back country. Too heavy.

My only complaint is the hood (when not worn) rides up the back of your neck and interferes with your helmet. Also would have liked an outside chest pocket (but there are two inside - one bottle, and one zip up for your ipod).

Not waterproof, but okay for cold days in snow. Looks swell.

Returned. Very nice warm jacket but to heavy for my liking. Bought for cold weather skiing.

About Mountain Hardwear

Starting back in 1993, a small group of outdoor industry mavericks broke away from the pack to follow a less-traveled path. From the very beginning, the primary goal of Mountain Hardwear was to create an outdoor gear brand with a sharp focus on technology-driven design, superior performance and hardcore reliability. The result of this function-first mentality has been an array of incredible Mountain Hardwear jackets, clothing, tents, backpacks, sleeping bags and accessories. Today, after more than two decades of industry-leading innovation, Mountain Hardwear continues to set new benchmarks for dependability in the toughest conditions on the planet.
