I bought the jacket for skiing. It's rugged and durable, but also stylish. I returned a lighter weight soft shell. It is a bit heavier than I would prefer for packing / hiking. Overall great jacket though if you are looking for an all around shell. Fits well, removable powder skirt, lots of usable p... Read More

BEST SHELL I EVER HAD. YOU CANNOT BEAT SIERRA TRADING POST PRICES. The most quality and feature set of any shell in its price point. I am one happy camper mountain hardwear does not disappoint! One thing is go one size up.

Bought this jacket for snowboarding because the specs on it looked great. I bought a large and found it to be too short and the sleeves too short with the wrist gaitors on. The jacket was tight across the back when I crossed my arms in front. The hood just barely fit over my red mutiny helmet and the jacket will barely zip up all the way with helmet on hood up. You end up with coat in the mouth. I am 5'11" 170 and after trying the large I ordered and XL and still had the same problems.
    • Cons: Poor Fit
    • Pros: Technical
    • Sizing: Feels too small
    • Sleeve Length: Feels too short

I ordered this jacket in late summer for preparation of this upcoming winter. I an unable to comment on the waterproofing of the Dry.Q.

This is more of a comment on fit and finish of the Mountain Hardwear Snowpocalypse jacket. My specs are a 48" chest, 38" waist and short arms. I tend to wear either a XL or XXL depending. I purchased a XXL and glad i did. This jacket fits snug, and the arms are perfect for me, which means this may be short for normal people. I would recommend to size up for this jacket.

Fit and Finish is great. It is typical Mountain Hardwear which is always good. The jacket is just a thin shell with no lining, so layering will be needed to stay warm in cold weather. I would say this jacket is light enough to be packable. This is great jacket, and I'm happy with my purchase.

This jacket looks just like the pic (which is a good thing). However my boyfriend is 5'7 145lbs and the "L" was way to big. The "M" fit his body perfect but the sleeves could have been a lil bit longer. He won't be able to layer to much under the jacket because of the arm length but he's cool with that. Over all good jacket.

About Mountain Hardwear

Starting back in 1993, a small group of outdoor industry mavericks broke away from the pack to follow a less-traveled path. From the very beginning, the primary goal of Mountain Hardwear was to create an outdoor gear brand with a sharp focus on technology-driven design, superior performance and hardcore reliability. The result of this function-first mentality has been an array of incredible Mountain Hardwear jackets, clothing, tents, backpacks, sleeping bags and accessories. Today, after more than two decades of industry-leading innovation, Mountain Hardwear continues to set new benchmarks for dependability in the toughest conditions on the planet.
