large lumbar pack

This isn't a bad pack. It's got a great plenty of room and a couple loops from with hiking poles might be able to hang. I like that the water bottle holders are deep and the exterior pocket has a rain cover. However, if you fully load this thing, it's a bit top heavy (though not awful), and unfortunately the shoulder strap is not positioned in such a way that you can use it at the same time as carrying the pack around your waist. Had I kept this, I would have unstitched and repositioned one end of the shoulder strap so that I could fully load the pack and distribute a little of the weight over my shoulders. The other thing I didn't like was that there are no pockets on the waist band, so there is no such thing as quick access to a granola bar or other small items -- you have to remove the pack. Except for one smallish interior zipped pocket, there are no dividers or cubbyholes to help with organizing things. Fine, if you don't mind creating pockets out of ziplock bags, or if you simply want one large interior space to work with, which can be its own plus.
