Good Tent, Good Value...weird fly design

For the price this tent is very difficult not to like. In fact I like it...just not love it. It's reasonably well-made (5 days test), attractive and the interior space is large...but the fly design is very poor, very small and near useless making entry/exit odd.

The vestibule area under the fly is about 24" deep (at the tip) at ground-level but it's also a very narrow triangle (24"x90"). Given the pitch of the tent's dome/fly slopes greatly (from snug at the top to 24") there's very little room or volume to store anything more than a couple pairs of shoes.

Entry and exiting can be a little odd and tricky. Entering isn't so bad except there's no real space under the fly.

Exiting the tent is the really odd thing, especially if it's raining. After you un-zip the door, you have reach to unzip the fly from INSIDE the tent since there's no room in the vestibule area. Then you have to crawl/pop out quickly on your knees/belly.

That said, again, for the price it's hard not to like the tent. For car camping, as a second tent or on a short backpacking trip, this will work well. For extended time and/or serious weather, I'd use something with a bigger fly/vestibule.

I think I'm simply going to leave the fly open or wrapped back in dry weather, consider this a good second tent and be happy about it.
