I used my poles for the first time on my first backpacking trip with my son's Scout Troop. The hike took us down into a river gorge on a trail that was not always in the best shape. I never put tremendous pressure on the poles, but I used them a lot to help support and brake while heading down, and to help push on the way out. They worked perfectly and did not show any signs of collapsing - I don't know that I can say the same about myself! These poles seemed to work just as well as those that may be much more expensive.
