Bought these as a "step up" from the cheaper trekking poles I've been using when walking about my rocky and hilly "ranchette." They are a great improvement because unlike the cheaper poles, their locks tightened via an external wheel and screw. Any number of times, cheaper poles have suddenly "collapsed" from my weight after banging them around and my dogs tugging on them and releasing the in-pole lock mechanisms. These poles have not done that after several months of use, although I did have to tighten one of the four locks after the pole length slid down a mere cm or two. I am not a lightweight, and I sometimes lean heavily on one side of another, and the poles have not bent. Liked them so much at this price that I bought a second pair as as backup.

On my first snowshoe hike with these, maybe by 2 miles in, I found the snow baskets completely broken and useless, and one of the poles became slightly bent. Locking mechanisms seem to work well in my limited experience with them, but needed substantial adjustment with a screwdriver out of the box.
