Don't count on them!

I bought these to replace my heavier aluminum hook stakes that came with my light backpacking tent and used these instead to save weight and found it to be a big mistake!!!! After just a few days the top of these stakes started to bend at the top near the knotches that hold the tent straps. I was on a 23 day trek and had to bend them back straight, but once bent, they were weakened and would bend back even easier. And, if you don't have a hammer and use a rock, it's worse. I was in a panick and luckily was able to have someone replace them on my first resupply stop but that was a worry every night setting up. I tired to find the softest soil and then did not drive them all the way into the dirt. I replaced them with MSR Ground Hog stakes which are four sided and don't not bend as easily. These would be fine in soft sand or on a lawn, but DO NOT rely on them as your only stakes or for a backpacking trip!
