Better than most

I've been looking for closet shelving that hits the sweet spot between well-made (but expensive) and cheap (but flimsy). This unit is the best I've found so far. It was a little troublesome to put together and it definitely helped to have two people at times because you have to exert some tension while lining up the screw holes and somehow managing to get the screws in straight. Get past the assembly and it's pretty sturdy. The top is even capable of supporting some weight. The cubbies will not hold adult shoes side-by-side as pictured, but you can slide them in paired with soles out without any difficulty up to at least a men's size 10 dress shoe. I think it will last long enough to justify the purchase price, especially since everything else at this price point is tissue-thin non-woven fabric (this is non-woven, I think, but has substance) and/or lightweight pressboard.
