This is a great shoe--I tried them out on a sandy/loose soil cliffside trail, with lots of rocks yesterday and they were awesome. I have fairly narrow heels, so there is some slippage in the heel for me, although that problem was reduced quite a bit by using the bunny loop trick with the lacing. The toe box is roomy and great- not quite as wide as Altras but close. I like the 8 mm drop and cushioning-- it's not too much/not too little in my book. I plan to do some serious trail running in these and long day hikes, and use my Altras for shorter stuff until my feet and stability muscles get stronger. If I have a heavier backpack on I would want more ankle support with higher top boots. Highly recommend Asolos for super rugged terrain and heavy loaded backpacks. Thanks NB- adventure on!
