Most Helpful 5-Star Review
Reviewed by upstate cyclist from New York state on Friday, October 10, 2014My first pair of these went through 600 miles of winter road running in central New York, at temps typically below 20F with the usual slush and gravel. I used them with sheet metal screws. They are still holding up great, and I might get another 400 miles out of them, which is incredible. I bought another pair as a replacement. Looks funny but the integrated gaiter is very light, adds only about 1oz. and you don't even notice it. Probably good for mud/slush and wet spring trail conditions as well, anything messy. These fit me wonderfully, but your feet might be different. For me the MT110 is a "desert island" shoe for trail, I don't need to try anything different.
Reviewed by Frank from Kansas City on Wednesday, June 18, 2014I really loved these shoes until they both started coming unglued. They work great for snow, weigh just about nothing, grip fine, and don't carry much mud. Unfortunately I took them on a trip to the Great Sand Dunes (thinking I could get buy without emptying my shoes every five minutes) and they plum fell apart. Both soles came unglued. I'll try to stick them back together, but it was a pretty disappointing showing for these otherwise good shoes.
Reviewed by BPC from Mass on Monday, March 10, 2014Bought this to both snowshoe in as well as trail run in messy weather.
Works great for both. Have only used few times so don't know about durability.
Shoe get bit warm but expected that. semi-roomy toe box and nice fitting heel. not overly flexible because of rock plate but don't notice any limit while running.
Reviewed by Scott from California High Desert on Monday, January 27, 2014The built-in gator was great on a 7 mile run in the Sierras over loose terrain in dry conditions: it kept the debris out that would normally find its way into my shoe and require me to stop and get it out. Traction was phenomenal!
Reviewed by Brandon from Michigan on Tuesday, December 31, 2013These zipped so tight around my wife's ankles that she cannot wear them. They actually cut off the circulation. Otherwise, very cool shoes, but returned. She doesn't have cankers either. Very fit active runner.

“Are these shoes intended to be used with or without the inner shoe, or only with it? Is sizing any different when wearing with or without the inner shoe?”
They are designed to be worn with the inner shoe. You would buy 1/2 larger than your regular shoe size according to our fit recommendation.
