“Can you boil water on an electric burner in this teapot, or do you just have to pour the boiling water into it? Thanks”
You should be able to boil water in this.
Requesting verification of answer because Wikipedia (search: Tetsubin) describes (in top section), "Outside Japan, a frequently seen variant ... is glazed with enamel on the inside" -- with the comment that, "it can't be used to hear water because that would break the enamel coating."
Note that the link from that page re "enamel" says, "Vitreous enamel, also called porcelain enamel..."
Perhaps we have chemist amongst us who can clarify and/or, we could get an appropriate answer from the manufacturer.
