Verified Buyer Reviewed by Will from North Caro on Friday, May 6, 2016Inexpensive locking carabiner. Not much else to say. Slightly heavy, but cheap. Already used 2 for anchors last weekend
Verified Buyer Reviewed by Benj from Wisconsin on Wednesday, May 4, 2016Note that I do not use this for climbing. I use these at the end of home-made tube-webbing gear leashes in my solo canoe.
These functioned extremely well in fast-needed cold-water situations. Very nice.
This is a LOCKING carabiner, but you can leave the screw-lock open or closed.
Thus you can leave it open, to snap like a normal non-locking carabiner, or twisted closed for a solid positive lock.

Verified Buyer Reviewed by Ryan from Draper, Utah on Wednesday, March 30, 2016This is a classic, plain screw-locking biner. Due to its weight, which is a little on the heavy side, I wouldn't want a whole rack of these, but they're great for using with some webbing to set up a top rope anchor to climb on at your local crag. For my lockers, I typically prefer the twist-lock style (the Omega Jack is outstanding), but those are quite a bit pricier. If I'm just going to set something up and leave it for the day, these much-less-expensive screw-lock D's are just fine. Plenty of opening room in the gate, nice finish, and the well-known and respected Omega name.

Carabiners are rated in kilonewtons (kN), a measurement of force, not weight. Force can't be converted to mass because it is mass X acceleration. However, kN can be converted to pounds-force (lbf). 1 lbf = 1 pound of mass X acceleration of gravity (what we percieve as 1 lb here on earth).
This carabiner is rated at 27 kN on the major axis when the gate is closed, 7 on the major axis when open, and 7 on the minor axis.
27 kN is about 6000 lbf. 7 kn is about 1500 lbf.
