  • “how about weight rated??????”
Asked by armando from chicago on 4/8/2015 6:06:04 PM
    • Carabiners are rated in kilonewtons (kN), a measurement of force, not weight. Force can't be converted to mass because it is mass X acceleration. However, kN can be converted to pounds-force (lbf). 1 lbf = 1 pound of mass X acceleration of gravity (what we percieve as 1 lb here on earth).

This carabiner is rated at 27 kN on the major axis when the gate is closed, 7 on the major axis when open, and 7 on the minor axis.

27 kN is about 6000 lbf. 7 kn is about 1500 lbf.
