Can't figure out why I like them so much

Not my usual style, but a little more funky than hippy, and the blood orange color got my attention.
First thing I noticed was that they were hard to put on. It would never have happened if I had a high instep. But I figured it might give since it's leather so I ignored the discomfort across the top of my foot and pulled and tugged till they went on. It's good leather--it gave where it needed to. And there was no discomfort once they were on. VERY good leather--it's nice and soft. They've gotten a little easier to put on until, by the 5th or so time, I could do it fairly quickly (which is what you hope for in a slip-on style). I like to have something that won't slip off my foot (wide toe, very narrow heel), so it's worth the little extra effort to put them on.
I'm still making up my mind about the comfort of the footbed. The notes on the box say to give it some time and it will mold to your foot, so I'm wandering around the house in them. They're very lightweight and have a relatively high arch support.
I question whether or not I'll keep them while at the same time being reluctant to take them off. They're just so cute and weird and funky!
Note on the sizing: They have decent width but still run pretty small. I have a size 8 foot in length and can't stand to have my toes squeezed together (terrified of making my bunion worse). So I usually wear a 9 in flats, 9 1/2 in boots and tie-on shoes. I ordered the 40 (US 10) in these. There is no way they are a US size 10. Even the length is closer to my typical 8 1/2 - 9 shoes Not sure if that's the brand or European sizing not translating quite right, or if the sizing got messed up and that's why they're on here so cheap. Just be aware when you order. If it weren't for that and the initial trouble getting them on, I think I'd give these five stars.
