euro sizing conversion argh

I wear a US 11. It's occasionally too short, but 12s are too big. I'm a shoe collector, so I know a hundred times over that size 11 fits me. AND I HAVE NEVER MET A SHOE LABELED '41' THAT I COULD EVEN GET MY FOOT INTO. Even 42 only works in some things (mainly sandals), and is much more likely to be too short than US 11. Born labels their perfectly sized shoes with Euro 43 as its 11 equivalent. So WHY OH WHY is the recommendation here and elsewhere 41 = 11 ?!? NONSENSE. I can only assume it works differently for smaller sizes. So okay, rant over. I ordered 42 in these (duh) and they fit like 42s usually do in an enclosed shoe: good width but slightly short. (No heel fit problem on me, as with some other reviewers.) The perforated soft suede means they will stretch, so I kept them. They look a bit like I'm wearing those little footsie nylons, but it's funky and cute. Definitely worth the STP coupon price!
