My young Doberman-pit bull mix is an aggressive chewer--can demolish a large rawhide (the digestible type) in an hour or less, but she has been working on her first buffalo horn for two weeks and has taken off only about two inches. It doesn't splinter, just kind of separates into two or three layers of ply where softened, and then she has to gnaw on them, they don't break off. On a par with elk horn. (We tried deer antlers and she shattered them.) Highly recommended.
