I bought these OR gloves to wear while running in the brutal Kansas wind. They are the ONLY gloves that have ever kept my fingers warm.
I usually have to wear bulky down mittens.
These gloves are light weight and comfortable.
Fantastic buy at STP!

These gloves were rated pretty high but I put them to the test shoveling on a cold night in Minnesota for my first time use. My hands were cold the first 20 minutes but then managed to warm up. The styling is nice looking and they aren't too bulky but they also aren't the most comfortable. They are quite stiff and didn't seem to loosen up with wear. I've worn them twice now hoping I will love them but they just aren't very comfortable.

After developing frostbite in a very unstable war-torn region of eastern Europe I developed a hyper-vigilance especially when it comes to gloves.
The problem is finding a pair that covers your needs with out breaking the bank and more importantly the fine line of keeping your hands warm with out losing dexterity...
and so far these gloves seem to be the pair that gets the closest to checking all the boxes.

They are really warm yet they breathe incredibly well while retaining a considerable resistance to water. I found after owning over twenty pairs of high-end gloves that the most important attribute is size. You need just enough room to keep air pockets around to allow the gloves to breath, and those pockets are key to insulation against cold.
I also found you don't need a waterproof glove when it is well below freezing or you are working around moving water or salt water.
At first these gloves may seem a bit too large especially if you are used to other OR gloves in the same size but give it time and you will quickly realize the extra mm here and there is what makes these gloves so versatile and warm,
The Pittards leather on these gloves is incredible and no glove has come close to this type of quality, the grip is phenomenal and far beyond anything I have ever had before. The articulated cut sizing feels natural and readies the hand for gripping tools and is what allows for just enough space to keep it breathing while maintaining a vice like grip.
Because of the tiny bit of room these gloves offer and the tiny air pockets created are warmer than a $280 pair of mountaineering gloves I have used for years and I typically only pack them when expecting extreme cold when the need for dexterity rules out the use of mittens.
The thing is when packing these types of gloves you use the same amount of space as a pair of sneakers and that is why these gloves are so wonderful. I am content in leaving my bulky shoe size extreme cold gloves behind and packing these next to my mittens fully trusting they will get the job done allow me a few creature comforts while in the extremes.
These gloves are worth every penny!!! And are by far one of the best made and most comfortable pair of glove I have ever owned. j

I liked the medium size except the fingers were way too short. Reordered the large and they are better. Nice gloves at a nice price.

About Outdoor Research

The concept for Outdoor Research was devised in 1981 when climber Ron Gregg’s planned ascent of Denali was cut short, ending prematurely with his frostbitten partner being airlifted off a glacier. The cause was a faulty pair of gaiters. During his descent, Gregg resolved himself to create better gear, a resolution that soon led him to build the first pair of award-winning Outdoor Research gaiters. The concept was simple: Make outdoor apparel and gear with a clear focus on reliability. In the many years since, this brand has continued to blaze new trails with cutting-edge products that now include Outdoor Research gloves, jackets, backpacks and Outdoor Research hats, all engineered to exceed expectations in the most demanding conditions on the planet.
