This insulated hat from OR is toasty warm, and looks great. OR was already one of my favorite brands. This hat did nothing to change that.

Both! I love this - no more packing both cap and beanie on hikes. This is a warm hat. Would have gotten 5 stars if I could also wear it without the earband down. It keeps sliding up my head when i tuck the earband in. Also, the visor could be made with a more robust "boning" as it gets rather crumpled up when in my backpack, i have to be careful not to squash it too much.

    Good product.
It would be better if the size could be adjusted.

Works well as both a regular cap AND as a cap with ear warmers. Nice design. Fits well.

I like the idea of this hat - a cute brimmed cap with a light wool ear flap but... The hat is lined with nylon which, when added to crisp cold days, equals static hair (at least for me). The wool ear flap is on the inside when not in use so it makes the rest of the hat tighter/warmer when you don't really want it to be that. I suppose you could fold the flap up on the outside but it looks a bit goofy that way and the nylon lining problem is still there. Otherwise the materials seem good (especially having wool instead of fleece for the ear flap) and it is well made.
Unfortunately this one is going back.

Probably very good if you don't have a pumpkin head (7.5 hat size). At my hat size the large feels tight and the ear flaps don't fit inside comfortably if you are not using them.

About Outdoor Research

The concept for Outdoor Research was devised in 1981 when climber Ron Gregg’s planned ascent of Denali was cut short, ending prematurely with his frostbitten partner being airlifted off a glacier. The cause was a faulty pair of gaiters. During his descent, Gregg resolved himself to create better gear, a resolution that soon led him to build the first pair of award-winning Outdoor Research gaiters. The concept was simple: Make outdoor apparel and gear with a clear focus on reliability. In the many years since, this brand has continued to blaze new trails with cutting-edge products that now include Outdoor Research gloves, jackets, backpacks and Outdoor Research hats, all engineered to exceed expectations in the most demanding conditions on the planet.
