I think I would describe this as mid-weight because it is a bit thick. It'll be a great Spring or Fall hiking shirt (as right now it's 80 degrees where I live). The hoody looks great on your head, the blue color is bright and pretty and as pictured. The rushing sleeves, however, I like the look but can feel a bit itchy and they are too much thread and stitches on the inside. Thumb holes are a big plus as well. It's a quality shirt with a great design.

I wore it while hiking at a slow pace (many young kids were involved) with friends on a sunny, mid-70's day and it was just perfect. The UPF 50+ kept me protected from the sun but the fabric is lightweight enough that I never felt too hot. I had purchased intending to wear more as a mid-layer for cold weather activities as the item description suggests, but I now anticipate getting a lot more use out of it as a lightweight sun protection outer layer in warm weather. I can imagine wearing over just about anything, including swimwear. I don't think the zip pocket would fit my iPhone 6, but it would definitely fit an ID and some cash, a key/keycard, or other such small items. The blue color is gorgeous. I need to check if STP still has other colors available. I'm 5'6" 140 lbs and ordered a medium and the fit is perfect.
