My previous OR Radiant fleece jacket finally wore out after two years of being worn almost every day (broken zipper finally did it in - smashed in a car door, NOT a product defect). I decided to replace it with an identical one!

Outdoor Research is a great brand and as such, I took a chance and ordered two of these jackets. I love them. "Jacket" is a loose term here as I use mine as an underlayer and it works great. It isn't super soft and supple like your favorite sweatshirt but it also isn't' itchy like some smart wool tops. It is comfortable with a short sleeve and a long. the sleeve seem a bit short for using the thumb holes but they really help when putting a jacket on top. The jackets are really warm too.

This great jacket is very similar to the OR Radiant Hooded Pullover, except in zip jacket form, and blessedly free of the bust-seaming weirdness of the latter. The material had a nice hand – a smooth jersey-feel on the outside and was fleecy inside, except for some panels that were thinner and grid-like (maybe these had stretch or something?). The cut was generally good for my hourglassy smallish medium frame (34C bust - 27" waist - 38.5" hips, with broader shoulders). I ordered a Small and a Medium, and while the Small was far too Small in the bust, the Medium fit generally well, following my curves, except for some extra room in the upper arms and waist. The flexibility of raglan sleeves meant an excellent fit through the shoulder. The colors were beautiful – very saturated jewel-tones. “Alpine Lake” is a deep turquoise, and “Atlantis” is a deep teal/pine. I had a few complaints with this jacket. The neck was rather too low – really more of a mock-neck length than covering the whole neck, and it felt a bit awkward and tight. Also awkward was the bust pocket (I can’t imagine using this without a really lumpy look), and the line from the mesh where the pocket ended hit at the middle of the breast – very unflattering. On a fleece jacket this pricey, there really should be a two-way zip, in order to make sitting down easier and to allow heat escape during exercising. I also felt that this jacket was somewhat overpriced, especially at the sticker price. That said, at the STP price, it is a decent buy for anyone with an hourglass shape looking for a light- to mid-weight fleece jacket that is reasonably flattering.

Bought for my girlfriend after getting one for myself. She really likes it although while fits well she thinks it is a little short but I think its because they are very form fitting.

Bought both colors. Like them for the fit, the material and versatility! I usually buy neutral boring colors and these are great, not so bright but still will go with everything! I am 5'6 and 125 lbs. Size small fit fine over a tank or a T as an outer layer for casual wear/gym and also good as under layer for a ski jacket/shell. Fabric is nice, not too thick nor too thin. The thumb hole makes it a little more fun :-)

About Outdoor Research

The concept for Outdoor Research was devised in 1981 when climber Ron Gregg’s planned ascent of Denali was cut short, ending prematurely with his frostbitten partner being airlifted off a glacier. The cause was a faulty pair of gaiters. During his descent, Gregg resolved himself to create better gear, a resolution that soon led him to build the first pair of award-winning Outdoor Research gaiters. The concept was simple: Make outdoor apparel and gear with a clear focus on reliability. In the many years since, this brand has continued to blaze new trails with cutting-edge products that now include Outdoor Research gloves, jackets, backpacks and Outdoor Research hats, all engineered to exceed expectations in the most demanding conditions on the planet.
