The Outdoor Research Sensor Dry Envelope has a sturdy build as is typical of OR products, but has some limitations affecting functionality. Due to the 'ziploc' seal, the opening is slightly smaller than the inside dimensions, a feature which, couple with the sticky clear plastic, makes it somewhat difficult to insert and remove devices that are close in size to the inside dimensions. The Medium is too tight a fit for an iPad2. Also, what is meant by "no-frills use" is that the camera and whatever else might be on the back of the device will be blocked by the opaque material (blue in this particular photo). This envelope could be handy in extreme situations and with the right device, but for regular use there are better ones out there (e.g., E-case series).

About Outdoor Research

The concept for Outdoor Research was devised in 1981 when climber Ron Gregg’s planned ascent of Denali was cut short, ending prematurely with his frostbitten partner being airlifted off a glacier. The cause was a faulty pair of gaiters. During his descent, Gregg resolved himself to create better gear, a resolution that soon led him to build the first pair of award-winning Outdoor Research gaiters. The concept was simple: Make outdoor apparel and gear with a clear focus on reliability. In the many years since, this brand has continued to blaze new trails with cutting-edge products that now include Outdoor Research gloves, jackets, backpacks and Outdoor Research hats, all engineered to exceed expectations in the most demanding conditions on the planet.
