I wore these pants on a hiking/camping trip in October in northern New Mexico and southern Utah. It rained most of the time, but I stayed comfortable and dry.

True to size. Yes the legs are looser, but that's the point when it comes to keeping bugs at bay. Knees are articulated, not sure that was mentioned. My only issue is it's a bit wrinkly and doesn't look as sharp as it could. Still, I think these were a good purchase.

I've had other Insect shield clothing and it does work. Wish they came in a darker color as it's easy to get stains when camping and hiking.

I'm very happy with these pants - they are good looking, comfortable and seem to be durable. I'm glad I read through other customer reviews because the sizing is a bit different than other pants/brands. I'm 6'1" 185 lbs and typically wear 32x34 or a M. Based on reviews I purchased size 34x34 and they fit perfect. So I do suggest ordering a size up in the waist.

    Price, look, comfort

Sizing is small, pockets tend to stick out (minor issue)

I found these pants to be a very poor fit for me, too tight in the waist and short in the rise, but very full in the legs. These won't work for me. Given the fit problem, I couldn't assses how they work in keeping insects away or how breathable they are.

I have 2 older pair of OR hiking pants (size M, 8-10) that I love. Based on the reviews I ordered a size up, size 10. These were way too LARGE. Returned them.

About Outdoor Research

The concept for Outdoor Research was devised in 1981 when climber Ron Gregg’s planned ascent of Denali was cut short, ending prematurely with his frostbitten partner being airlifted off a glacier. The cause was a faulty pair of gaiters. During his descent, Gregg resolved himself to create better gear, a resolution that soon led him to build the first pair of award-winning Outdoor Research gaiters. The concept was simple: Make outdoor apparel and gear with a clear focus on reliability. In the many years since, this brand has continued to blaze new trails with cutting-edge products that now include Outdoor Research gloves, jackets, backpacks and Outdoor Research hats, all engineered to exceed expectations in the most demanding conditions on the planet.
