Warmth + Lightweight

Great down coat! Excellent fit, wind proof, and warmth that is not bulky. I was surprised to see the pretty teal color interior lining. I usually wear a medium size, but ordered up to a large since I tend to also wear sweaters or other layers. This coat is perfect!

    Nice design, lightweight, warm.
  • too narrow in the hips

nice jacket, love the zipper at the sleeve cuffs, but cut too narrow in the hips (and I'm pretty average-size in that area), so it is being returned. color appears more turquoise online, in reality it is closer to a true blue.
  • Too baggy, feels low quality
Reviewed by Mom of Toddler from NYC on Friday, January 6, 2017
I was looking for a lightweight down jacket to get me through the cold but not super cold days of NYC winter. I bought four different jackets of varying lengths and weights. This one was my least favorite. The fit was baggy in all the wrong places and it was puffier than the pics show. It's going back.

  • “Can someone measure the inseam of the sleeves for a small or medium? I'm looking to replace my Mountain Hardwear coat because the sleeves are just barely long enough to hit my wrists. I love the look of this coat but need the sleeves to be longer than what I have. Thanks!”
Asked by Kat from Pittsburgh on 12/15/2017 8:31:55 AM
    • I have the medium and the inseam is just shy of 22". I originally ordered the small (I usually wear a small or size 6 top) but it was just a little snug around the chest. The medium is a better fit, with room for another layer underneath. I think my arms are long, but these sleeves come past my wrist. Hope this helps!

About Outdoor Research

The concept for Outdoor Research was devised in 1981 when climber Ron Gregg’s planned ascent of Denali was cut short, ending prematurely with his frostbitten partner being airlifted off a glacier. The cause was a faulty pair of gaiters. During his descent, Gregg resolved himself to create better gear, a resolution that soon led him to build the first pair of award-winning Outdoor Research gaiters. The concept was simple: Make outdoor apparel and gear with a clear focus on reliability. In the many years since, this brand has continued to blaze new trails with cutting-edge products that now include Outdoor Research gloves, jackets, backpacks and Outdoor Research hats, all engineered to exceed expectations in the most demanding conditions on the planet.
