“My dog is a boxer/rottie mix that can swim but isn't eager to do so because he's muscular, has a deep chest, and little body fat. I definitely want to get him a life vest so he is more comfortable in the water, but I'm concerned this particular design won't fit him well because of his chest/waist ratio and the fact that he is right between sizes. I'm also not sure if it will provide enough flotation to allow him to enjoy swimming.
He has the following measurements:
Weight: 56 lbs
He's right between sizes. Measurements would suggest a large but I'm worried it will fit awkwardly, as it looks ridiculous on the boxer in the picture. Thoughts?”
The vest fits around the chest so a small waist doesn't matter. You can't get any skinnier than a greyhound! Just get the closest in size to his chest measurement. The band across the front of adjustible. My small grey is only 24 inches long from shoulder to tail. My big girl is 32 inches long. They have similar chest sizes because greys have giant lungs. Anyway, a large fit oth fine once I adjusted the straps.
And yup, they look silly as all get out. But the vest could save their lives, even a big boxer/rottie or a bowling ball sized pug.
