Good for long ridesVerified Buyer Reviewed by Dave in Boulder from Colorado on Wednesday, April 22, 2015I'm training for an ironman and have found these shorts to be great for those long 3hr+ training rides. Lots of padding, comfortable fit when on the bike, but perhaps a little awkward for walking around town (even in Boulder).
Well padded, sizes run smallVerified Buyer Reviewed by Gary C. from Ohio on Tuesday, March 31, 2015Nice shorts. Nicely padded. Order a size larger than normal. These run small.
Cycle ShortsVerified Buyer Reviewed by Anonymous from Southern California on Monday, November 10, 2014Liked these enough to buy more than one pair. Like most Pearl Izumi products sizing can be a bit weird, smaller then one would think. I think the choice of manufacturer is part of the problem.
Other then the sizing quite happy.
Great product for the priceVerified Buyer Reviewed by Cycling Dan from Utah on Tuesday, November 4, 2014These are excellent shorts that are a typical Pearl Izumi fit. I am about a 31 waist and the smalls are snug but are good for riding. I've bought Medium in the Attack before and they too fit ok, but do move around a bit more. The 3D Chamois is great and provides good padding without being excessive. These breath well and are a great affordable option (especially at less than $30, which is what I payed).
Cycle ShortsVerified Buyer Reviewed by Anonymous from Southern California on Sunday, November 2, 2014Bought two pair based on my use of Pearl Izumi shorts of another style. Happy with shorts except, Pearl Izumi seems to have a problem with their manufacturing process. One pair fits perfect one is slightly to small.
I am the perfect 40 regular so their should not have been this problem with their shorts, jersey's and jackets
Great ShortsVerified Buyer Reviewed by stevospeed from Wayne, NJ on Wednesday, October 29, 2014Pearl Izumi has not disappointed me on any products I have purchased including these shorts. I am an avid recreational cyclist and have used these for ride between 15 - 55 miles so far. They are comfortable and fit well. I am 6.1 around 200 lbs, based on prior reviews I went with the XL (typically fall under L in PI shorts) which seems to be a good size. PI puts out great quality products.
It's Pearl Izumi. Always quality products.Verified Buyer Reviewed by Robert from Arizona on Tuesday, October 21, 2014First off I will say these run just a fraction small. I always order large in shorts which fit me. These were just a bit tighter than most other brands that I purchase. So, if you're right on a dividing line size-wise, you might consider ordering the next size up.
I bike ( mostly mountain ) 100-120 miles/week and these shorts are comfortable. Longest ride in them thus far is 25 miles and the best thing I can say about them is I didn't think about them, nor my butt or any other parts. ;-)
8 panel shorts always feel and ride better than 6 panel so spend a few bucks more. Your body will thank you.
good shortsVerified Buyer Reviewed by runride from ga on Friday, October 17, 2014Comfortable shorts, decent chamois, fit is good. I am 6'1" 223 with 36" waist bought large.
nice qualityVerified Buyer Reviewed by gramps from NJ on Sunday, October 12, 2014This is a great short. Fit well and comfortable .You can get it for less money without the yellow stripe elsewhere.
Comfortable, well constructedReviewed by Robert at the Post from Near Boston on Sunday, October 5, 2014I've been an avid road cyclist for many years and ride 30 miles a day.
I have always used the baggy / mountain bike shorts as I like the pockets and more casual look and just haven't been too concerned about the minimal wind resistance they might create.
Finally decided to try a pair of road biking shorts and went with Pearl Izumi as I have lots of their other gear and always find it to be top notch.
These shorts are no exception and I must admit I really like them, the way they feel and the riding comfort they provide along with the quality.
I can't compare them to other road biking shorts since these are my first pair, but I did just order two more so I definitely like them.

“Is there padding on the rear?
yes there is or, more acurately, in the crotch.
Yes there is. Look for "Chamois" in the description.
There is padding and it is concentrated in the crotch area. It does wrap up front and in the rear some, but is typical in what in covers, meaning these are not oversized pads. If you are looking for over sized / extra padding in the rear this is probably not what you are looking for. If you want standard (and good quality padding) that is found in biking shorts - absolutely these do have good padding.
Yes. There is a good chamois pad that wicks moisture well and is neither too thick nor too thin.
Yes, when the description mentions Chamois, it is referring to the padding, These shorts have a nice amount along with comfort.
Yes, that' the 3D chamois that is mentioned in the description.
