  • Thin and light - That's what she said

I've long been a no-sock runner since I really like the lightness and feel, as well as the ease of changing shoes in triathlons. Recently though my shoes started rubbing holes in my feet. This sucks, I don't recommend it. So I went on the lookout for a lightweight sock that still felt like I was barefoot. These guys fit the bill perfectly. Super light, super thin. Definitely not a sock to use if you're looking for added warmth. I may use these under my woolies as liners in the winter time for hiking as well. Added bonus is that they come up past your ankle bone, so you get to look like grampa. The black ones with a bright white pair of Velcro New Balance walking shoes and some plaid shorts will be sick when I'm 80.

  • “Does this make a good liner sock for hiking, to help prevent blisters?”
Asked by TRN from Washington on 2/8/2015 7:21:25 PM
    • I wouldn't recommend this product for hiking. I wore it to work twice and did a seven mile run in it and then a hole ruined the sock. I think it is very delicate and not as strong as previous socks that I have owned. Perhaps it should only be used for cycling... I'll just go barefoot instead of getting another pair.

About Pearl Izumi

Before Kinji Shimizu created the first Pearl Izumi cycling apparel, he spent nearly seven days a week on his bike delivering 90 pounds of clothes to customers. He frequently pedaled 38 miles a day. Years later, after his son received a special Italian-made cycling jersey, Kinji was inspired to start creating his own using the best fabrics he could find. The result soon evolved into the Pearl Izumi brand. In the five decades since, the company Kinji founded has continued working hard to make the best gear possible for dedicated athletes and weekend warriors. From incredibly lightweight Pearl Izumi shoes to sleek, comfortable Pearl Izumi running apparel, few other brands have the same relentless drive toward innovation as Pearl Izumi.
