I usually wear a size 6 (I'm 5'4", 125 lbs, curvy built), but I don't like shorts pinching me, so I went with the Medium. I'm glad I did, as they fit perfectly. I've worn the shorts without the liner around town, and the liner under leggings when it was cooler. Super comfortable. The leg band is... Read More

  • PI quality, fit is a bit strange

Typically wear a Medium in PI, and the Medium of the new Canyon version fit well at REI. These previous generation definitely fit smaller though, with the liners actually longer than the outer shorts. Overall the new design is cut nicer and fits better. The new version has flatter and more secure closure system - this has 2 buttons plus velcro and sticks out and snags your shirt....not a fan of velcro enclosures as they always fail.

These bike shorts are just what I needed. They are lightweight and comfortable. I like that the chamois pad can be detached from the shorts. I am 5'3" tall, weigh 136 lbs and ordered size L, which fit perfectly. I do wish the shorts had more pockets other than the tiny key pocket.

I bought these shorts for traveling as I will be hiking and biking. The inside "chamois" layer is removable for easy washing and will allow me to use the shorts as regular shorts. Despite ordering a large (when I normally order bike shorts in medium), they are rather fitted on the top portion of the leg. I have only used them once for a ride so I can't offer more details - like whether they don't chaff or ride up.
  • Meh - A little small

I'm new to biking shorts so my review is somewhat "uninformed". I wear a size 16 right now and these were a little small. Otherwise they seemed like solid bike shorts.

I actually like that it doesn't have silicone grippy stuff.

About Pearl Izumi

Before Kinji Shimizu created the first Pearl Izumi cycling apparel, he spent nearly seven days a week on his bike delivering 90 pounds of clothes to customers. He frequently pedaled 38 miles a day. Years later, after his son received a special Italian-made cycling jersey, Kinji was inspired to start creating his own using the best fabrics he could find. The result soon evolved into the Pearl Izumi brand. In the five decades since, the company Kinji founded has continued working hard to make the best gear possible for dedicated athletes and weekend warriors. From incredibly lightweight Pearl Izumi shoes to sleek, comfortable Pearl Izumi running apparel, few other brands have the same relentless drive toward innovation as Pearl Izumi.
