As a short person (5'2") I am used to accommodating since most articles of clothing don't come in petites. This brand, which I find to be high quality, is no exception. It's crazy. In the bottoms I am a small but in the tops I need a large. I am 130lbs., maybe less, and find that I need a large ... Read More

I ordered this jacket in a bright orange, for extra visibility. It's orange everywhere except the back, which defeats the point. So I'm returning it. I think the convertible feature is pretty cool, but I didn't get to check it out. The weight and warmth seemed good.

Jacket is tight under the arms it may be becuase of the inner sleeve and not long enough I ordered a medium and I'm 5'6 130 lbs.

Fit is perfect for me. And I love the "convertible" feature of being able to zip off the long sleeves and have the short sleeves, not a vest. The pockets in the back are also a nice feature. Looking forward to more chilly rides.

This is a good winter piece with a couple flaws. The fabric is great; I love the light fleece lining inside the soft shell. It's also nice to be able to take care of two items in one (jacket and vest).

As others have said, though, PI missed the mark with the sleeves. Inside are short sleeves made of spandex that are much tighter than the long sleeves of the jacket. I also have PI's Elite Barrier Convertible jacket, which is the same principle in a wind breaker (jacket or vest). It converts to a true vest when the long sleeves are zipped off, though, rather than having short sleeves inside. The Thermal Jacket should have used the same design. For the STP price, it's worth taking to the tailor to cut the inner sleeves back to the shoulder.

I'd also say this is a bit short in the torso, although not enough to justify returning it. The tapering for the waist is slightly higher than my waist and for more warmth having it fall an inch or so lower on the hips would be preferable.

I assumed the back would also be "full" orange - it's not - mostly black - i purchased it to be seen

About Pearl Izumi

Before Kinji Shimizu created the first Pearl Izumi cycling apparel, he spent nearly seven days a week on his bike delivering 90 pounds of clothes to customers. He frequently pedaled 38 miles a day. Years later, after his son received a special Italian-made cycling jersey, Kinji was inspired to start creating his own using the best fabrics he could find. The result soon evolved into the Pearl Izumi brand. In the five decades since, the company Kinji founded has continued working hard to make the best gear possible for dedicated athletes and weekend warriors. From incredibly lightweight Pearl Izumi shoes to sleek, comfortable Pearl Izumi running apparel, few other brands have the same relentless drive toward innovation as Pearl Izumi.
