These Octane SLs are superior to the PROs and the rest of the current Pearl Izumi line--I know because I tried three different types before settling on these. They are, regrettably, the most expensive, but at Sierra Trading the price isn't such a problem. The velcro closures seem quite durable--in... Read More

I've been wearing these shoes for 10 months. I wear a 6 1/2 W in women's shoes. I got a 38. My big toes, little toes, and balls of my feet go numb in about 15 minutes and turn ghastly white in 25 minutes. The shoes are well made, light, and stylish. Unfortunately, they are way too tight for me. I recommend these shoes to people with narrow feet but normal to wide footed people should definitely not purchase.

Good shoe. Lightweight. About 230 grams per shoe. Fairly comfortable. I have a medium width foot and these fit right. I wear size 44. American shoe size is 10, or really about 9.75 if they made such a size. For longer rides, 125 miles, they are not as comfortable as my old Carnac shoes. Feet get some discomfort in the sole. Maybe due to the shoe insole being just a very thin piece of foam. Shorter 60 mile rides, no discomfort. Velcro closure is great. Secure and easy to adjust so its just right. Wich it only had two velcro straps though. Only the top velcro strap is used. Bottom two straps are always loose.

I was sooooo excited to get these and when I opened the box they were tiny. They are sold as a men's shoe sizing but I wear a women's size 7/ men's size 5 and the 38's were clearly equal to a small women's size 6. Great looking shoes and light as a feather. If you can make them fit, you're lucky.

Absolutely thrilled with this shoe. I have a normal width foot and the shoe fits like a slipper. The shoe is weightless and very stiff. I am tempted to buy another pair [...] I have worn for about 25ish 40-60 mile rides. No century yet this summer as still MTB race season.

These are light and well ventilated. My longest ride so far is a 40mi and they worked great.

About Pearl Izumi

Before Kinji Shimizu created the first Pearl Izumi cycling apparel, he spent nearly seven days a week on his bike delivering 90 pounds of clothes to customers. He frequently pedaled 38 miles a day. Years later, after his son received a special Italian-made cycling jersey, Kinji was inspired to start creating his own using the best fabrics he could find. The result soon evolved into the Pearl Izumi brand. In the five decades since, the company Kinji founded has continued working hard to make the best gear possible for dedicated athletes and weekend warriors. From incredibly lightweight Pearl Izumi shoes to sleek, comfortable Pearl Izumi running apparel, few other brands have the same relentless drive toward innovation as Pearl Izumi.
