Gloves work well. There is a bit of a bulky feeling between the fingers and you do lose some dexterity with the lobster style glove, but it is worth it for warm fingers.

In these gloves shifting on a road bike is imprecise. You're fumbling at it, basically. They are very warm, and they come up your arms far enough to prevent any gapping. My first ride with them it wasn't that cold, but I'd imagine these will extend my ability to ride without a warm up stop by at least an hour in the winter time. There is a strip of leather on the palm so you don't slip on the bar tape. However, I do wish there was a bit of gel in the key places to pad the palm to prevent nerve pinching on long rides.

About Pearl Izumi

Before Kinji Shimizu created the first Pearl Izumi cycling apparel, he spent nearly seven days a week on his bike delivering 90 pounds of clothes to customers. He frequently pedaled 38 miles a day. Years later, after his son received a special Italian-made cycling jersey, Kinji was inspired to start creating his own using the best fabrics he could find. The result soon evolved into the Pearl Izumi brand. In the five decades since, the company Kinji founded has continued working hard to make the best gear possible for dedicated athletes and weekend warriors. From incredibly lightweight Pearl Izumi shoes to sleek, comfortable Pearl Izumi running apparel, few other brands have the same relentless drive toward innovation as Pearl Izumi.
