Verified Buyer Reviewed by Broncoman423 from Tn. on Tuesday, July 26, 2016I have not used it yet. The reel is very smooth and bail seems to be a quality set up. I will update after I put it to use.
Verified Buyer Reviewed by MrBill from South Carolina on Monday, July 25, 2016Bought this for grandkids to use and they are enjoying it. Very good entry level spinning reel.
Reviewed by fishopotamus from Connecticut on Thursday, June 2, 2016It's important to note: the reel pictured above is actually a Penn Fierce 2 (not the first generation) that has a few extra features that this reel does not have. Some include a thicker bail wire, full metal body, better corrosion resistance and a braid ready spool (you will have to use backing or electrical tape for braid on this reel).
That said, Penn makes great reels and this one certainly won't disappoint. I knew this was the first gen model but bought it anyway because of the price and overall performance and reliability from Penn reels.
Pair this with a 4 piece ugly stick and you'll have the perfect travel combo that can tackle fresh or salt water for under $100.
Verified Buyer Reviewed by FLJohn from Florida on Thursday, May 12, 2016I have only used this reel for a few hours but it is very smooth. I look forward to many more days of fishing with it. I purchased this reel for an upcoming trip to fish for smallmouth bass in Canada. It balances perfectly with a TFO rod I recently purchased from Sierra Traders.
