If you're looking for an affordable Aran Sweater, this is it. I wear a large and it fits beautifully. I get compliments everywhere I go when I wear it. Warm as all get-out. This sweater is the warmest I've ever had. It fits perfectly.

I wear a medium in just about everything, and ordered a medium sweater. This review is based on the product right out of the box, as it's never been worn or washed.

First, the body seems to be about right in width... though it's a tad longer than you'd expect. Granted, I'm only 5'7", but it shouldn't hang below my crotch.

However, that's nothing compared to the sleeve length.
Seriously, there's atleast 6 inches of sleeve hanging past my palms. Normally, I'd just fold it under and get over it, but I can't. The material is too thick for that, unless your going for the pirate look.
Now, the patterns and material are extremely nice, but the color is not as subtle as you'd think. It looks like someone crumbled up a basic box of crayons and sprinkled them on the sweater. The specks of color are extremely vivid and bright, and not real manly to be completely honest.

So, at the end of the day. I'd suggest looking at different options... unless your a bi-curious orangutan.

It was with great expectation that I ordered the Peregrine by JG Glover Walter Aran Sweater for men. From veiwing it on the website and reading the reviews I was eagerly anticipating a new classic too my winter sweater wardrobe. I wear an extra-large sweater I am 6'2 athletic build (tennis or basketball type) 44 long jacket. So Imagine my shock when the sweater arrived and I opened the box, pulled the neatly folded sweater from the plastic and slipped it over my light weight thermal henley only to find it fit like a medium. At least three inches short of my wrist.
Yeah, it read xl on the tab but that sweater was cut for a size 40 at best. I sure am glad Sierra Trading Post has a good return policy because there is nothing I can do with that sweater.

Here is a suggestion. By comparison STP should purchase a Fisherman's sweater by Levi Strauss. Their wool cable knit fits perfect. it's thick without being bulky. So far I've purchased the two colors they sale. If they had more I would buy them. I was highly disappointed and probably won't be ordering from STP again.
I take sweaters seriously. I live in Chicago and it can get really cold and snowy here; good sweaters are a necessity.
